  • CPB Statement on the Death of José Fajardo, former CEO of Hawai’i Public Radio

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 20, 2024) – The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) released the following statement from President and CEO Patricia Harrison regarding the death of José A. Fajardo, former CEO of Hawai’i Public Radio.

    “We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of José A. Fajardo, former CEO of Hawai’i Public Radio. Jose's leadership and dedication to public broadcasting helped shape Hawai’i Public Radio into the esteemed institution it is today, and his grace and courage after receiving a devastating ALS diagnosis remain an inspiration to us all.

  • CPB Awards Up to $500,000 to Two Public Radio Stations to Improve Emergency Alerting

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 16, 2024) – Public radio stations Raven Radio in Sitka, AK, and WCLK in Atlanta will receive a total of up to $508,234 from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) to upgrade their equipment to provide enhanced emergency alerting. With these grants, CPB has awarded funding to 40 public media stations in 22 states so far for the Next Generation Warning System (NGWS) grant program, funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

  • CPB Honors Congressman Earl Blumenauer with Lifetime Achievement Award

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 19, 2024) – The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) Board of Directors awarded Congressman Earl Blumenauer the Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his outstanding contributions to public media. The award was presented today at a CPB Board meeting.

  • CPB Board of Directors to Meet on November 19-20, 2024

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 13, 2024)  -- The CPB Board of Directors will meet in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 10 am – 4:55 pm and Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 10-11 am ET.   • CPB Awards Up to $587,000 to Three Public Radio Stations to Improve Emergency Alerting

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 12, 2024) – Public radio stations KVPR in Fresno, CA; WQLN in Erie, PA; and KRCL in Salt Lake City, UT, will receive a total of up to $587,704 from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) to upgrade their equipment to provide enhanced emergency alerting. With these grants, CPB has awarded funding to 38 public media stations in 21 states so far for the Next Generation Warning System (NGWS) grant program, funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

  • First 50 Public Media Stations Selected for Second Phase of Digital Transformation Program

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 29, 2024) – The first 50 public media stations from across the country have been selected to participate in a second phase of the Digital Transformation Program delivered by the Poynter Institute. The program educates, assists, and coaches public media senior leaders and their staff on the best strategies and tactics to transform their organization’s digital operations and culture to meet the needs of local audiences.
