  • PBS Digital Studios Receives $3M Grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to Establish Regional Digital Centers of Innovation

    ARLINGTON, VA (August 10, 2021) – Today at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger announced that with a $3 million grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), PBS Digital Studios will establish three Regional Digital Centers of Innovation to build its digital capacity and create a new pipeline of multi-platform content.

  • CPB, PBS Award Firelight Media $5.5 Million to Diversify Public Media Content

    NEW YORK, NY (August 10, 2021) – Acclaimed documentary producer Firelight Media has received $5.5 million in funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and PBS to support its Firelight Documentary Lab and two other programs aimed at increasing the diversity of public media content in partnership with local stations and PBS national series.

  • CPB Statement on House of Representatives Passage of Funding for Public Media

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 29, 2021) — Patricia Harrison, president and CEO of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), made the following statement today following House passage of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 Labor, Health and Human Services and Education Appropriations bill, which contains funding for public media.

    “We appreciate the House of Representatives' strong support of public media, providing $565 million for CPB's FY 2024 advance appropriation, ensuring that public media remains free and available to every American throughout the country, in rural and urban areas.

  • WFYI Awarded CPB Funding to Continue America Amplified Public Media Initiative

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 19, 2021) – Indianapolis-based WFYI will lead America Amplified 2.0, a public media initiative designed to instill journalism practices that meaningfully address local information needs through active listening and engagement. WFYI will establish a central team to lead and develop community engagement journalism practices at 20 public media stations, especially in parts of the country traditionally underserved by media, including rural areas. The initiative is funded through a $983,451 grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

(May 28, 2021) — Patricia Harrison, president and CEO of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), released the following statement today regarding President Biden’s fiscal year 2022 budget request, which proposes $475 million in FY 2024 for CPB’s advance appropriation; $20 million for the public broadcasting interconnection system and $29.5 million for the Department of Education’s Ready to Learn program in FY 2022.
